Enshrouded server not showing up, or friends can't join?

Enshrouded dedicated server not in the list or friends can't join? Forward UDP 15637, tick Show dedicated servers, add it in Steam favorites. IPv4 only.

Quick answer

Keen Games' official FAQ lists one port for the Enshrouded dedicated server: queryPort 15637 (set in enshrouded_server.json), plus the standard Steam ports. Forward it as UDP to the server PC and allow enshrouded_server.exe through the firewall. If friends can't find the server, the most common fix is in the game: open Join, then the Server Filter, and turn on Show dedicated servers. If it still doesn't appear, add your IP in Steam's Game Servers favourites. The server uses IPv4 only, so an IPv6-only or CGNAT connection can't host it directly.

Ports

  • 15637 UDP: queryPort in enshrouded_server.json (the official default)

How to fix it, step by step

  1. Wait until the server is fully up. The first start creates enshrouded_server.json. The server is ready when the log shows [Session] 'HostOnline' (up)!. Joining earlier fails.
  2. Check the config. In enshrouded_server.json: name is what players see in the list, ip should stay 0.0.0.0, queryPort is 15637, slotCount is 1 to 16. If your file still has a gamePort entry from an older version, forward that port too.
  3. Forward the port. Reserve the server PC's local IP, forward UDP 15637 (or your queryPort) to it, and allow enshrouded_server.exe through Windows Firewall.
  4. Find it in the right list. Players open Join and enable Show dedicated servers in the Server Filter. Star the server to keep it at the top.
  5. Add it in Steam if it's still missing. In Steam: View → Game Servers → Favorites → +, then enter your public IP. The official FAQ says to use this when the server doesn't appear in the in-game list.
  6. Check IPv4 and CGNAT. The server only works over IPv4. If your provider gives you IPv6 with shared IPv4 (DS-Lite) or CGNAT, friends can't reach it. Compare your router's WAN IP with your public IP; see the CGNAT guide.

After a big Enshrouded update

Update the dedicated server as soon as the game updates and restart it, so players and server are on the same version.

Server performance and player limit

The official FAQ says the server uses about 4.4 GB of RAM idle, up to 100 MB more per player, and no more than about 6 GB in total. slotCount allows at most 16 players.

Test it from the outside

Your own Wi-Fi can't tell you whether friends can reach the server. The free Server Doctor check contacts your server once from the internet, the way the game does, and tells you the most likely cause. The same check runs in Discord with /fix.

No PC to host 24/7?

An Enshrouded world needs the server running whenever anyone plays, and an IPv6-only or CGNAT connection can't host it at all. A hosted Enshrouded server has a public IPv4 address and stays online.
